This policy explains what information Redwood EDA, LLC ("Redwood EDA", "we", "us") collects through Makerchip and what we do with it. It covers the makerchip.com website and IDE, the servers behind them, related services we operate, and clients such as the Makerchip extension for Visual Studio Code. It is part of our Terms of Service.
The code and other content you submit to Makerchip is stored without protection and may be visible to others (see section 3 of the Terms of Service). Do not put personal information in it.
We may use analytics, our own or a third party's, but only to understand and improve Makerchip, not to advertise to you or to build a profile of you. Analytics may set cookies and receive the technical information above. We do not use advertising services.
Plugins, views, libraries, and shared designs written by others run in your IDE (see section 5 of the Terms of Service). They may send information, including your design, to other servers, under their authors' own policies. This policy does not cover them.
Makerchip's extensions for VS Code and compatible editors exchange information with Makerchip and with other services they rely on, and store data on your computer. They collect no telemetry. If that changes, they will respect your editor's telemetry setting.
Some features, now or in the future, use AI. The content they handle, such as your code, images, and documents, may go to an AI provider: either one you choose, such as the provider of an AI agent you use, under your agreement with it; or one we use to provide a feature, as our service provider under this policy.
We use information to provide, maintain, secure, debug, improve, and develop Makerchip; to publish and share content as the Terms of Service allow; to communicate with you, including about Makerchip; and to meet legal obligations. We do not sell personal information.
We may use your content, and information produced from it such as compilation results, to train and evaluate AI models, ours or others', and may license or publish it for that purpose. We take reasonable steps to remove personal information first, and we do not use technical information, such as IP addresses, for training.
We keep information for as long as we find it useful for the purposes above. Records of anonymous use are deleted periodically. Your content may be kept indefinitely, or deleted at any time.
We take reasonable steps to protect the personal information we hold. Your content, however, is not protected (see above).
Makerchip's servers and providers may be in the United States or in other countries. By using Makerchip, you agree to your information being processed there.
Makerchip is used in education, including by children under 13. We design it so that children can use it without giving us personal information:
Teachers and schools that direct children to use Makerchip are responsible for obtaining any parental consent the law requires.
A parent or guardian who believes their child has given us personal information can ask us to review or delete it by emailing legal@redwoodeda.com.
You can block cookies, but parts of Makerchip may not work without them. To ask about, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you, email legal@redwoodeda.com.
We may revise this policy. The "Last updated" date above shows when it last changed.
